The solution of everything

The topic “Financial Independence” can sound a bit elderly . One might get some eyerolls as well if he starts talking about that topic. But in my opinion it's one of the most important things in a person's life. People who grew up in wealth might not pay that much interest in this topic and from a middle class peoples perspective “money has always been the root of all evil”. As a result it has left untouched in both part of the society. It has been a taboo throughout the years. People who talk about it are often considered evil or bad people, and usually people are not comfortable having conversation about this topic.

In my opinion, every person should try and achieve financial independence. It gives a person freedom to pursue whatever they like, it makes people more generous, and financial independence brings out the best in people. Moreover, financial independence will work as a deterrent from many of the discrimination and abuse that is currently happening.

Firstly I've often seen people unable to pursue a certain passion of their own due to that passion not promising any money. As a result, even though they are great at that certain thing, and they love doing it , they have to stay away from it and follow the same miserable routine or career path which they don't like. It makes their life more miserable. But if that guy had financial independence, he would not need to worry about money and he would not have to do the miserable job he doesn't like. He would have the freedom to pursue the career they are passionate about and it would actually make them happy. Just imagine for a second every person from society is able to do that, what a beautiful and happy society it would be!

Women from middle class and lower middle class society, who are not financially independent and are dependent on their husband, often are subjected to domestic violence due to the fact that they are not financially independent. The abuser always has that thought in mind that this person doesn't have anywhere to go, and the woman also keeps reminding herself that she dont have any other option but to go through this abuse as she has no place else to go. But if the woman were financially independent and if she had the resources to live her life by herself, certainly that woman wouldn’t go through it at all.  At the very first stage of the abuse she would leave the abuser and live a life of her own.

People need to be taught about money management from an early age, they need to be educated on compounding, investing and savings. The topic of money should be normalised and people should talk about it more often in public. From the school days we need to be taught how to open a bank account, about the concept of “ShanchayPatra”, Mutual funds. Only financial literacy can bring financial independence. Also people should research this topic as well. There are some really helpful books like “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, “4 hours Work Week” which can help a person to come up with a strategy to reach the goal of financial independence.

Although people might say it's self centred, it's not. If you are able to reach financial independence you will be able to help people around you as well. Financial independence is the dream every person should have.
